14-month-old girl drowns in pond in Odisha’s Balasore district

Jaleswar: In a tragic incident, a 14-month-old baby girl drowned in a pond in Balasore district of Odisha on Wednesday. The incident took place in the Dhananda village under Baliapal police station limits in the district.

The deceased girl has been identified as Jyotishree Jena.

As per the information received, the toddler drowned in a pond near her home while playing in the yard this morning.

Despite frantic searches, the child was not found and later its body was visible in the pond. The family members fished out her body and rushed her to the Baliapal CHC. However, the doctors there declared her dead.

After getting information Baliapal police reached the spot and initiated investigation. The body has been sent for autopsy.
