Former boyfriend held after woman’s murder at Mohali company

Chandigarh: A shocking incident has sent ripples of fear through the private company, where a 30-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend and colleague in Mohali, Punjab.

According to the police, the alleged accused, identified as Harjinder Singh Mann, and the victim were already in a relationship in the past.

The investigation also stated that both the victims had separated some time ago; however, the accused was allegedly finding it hard to accept the break-up and was trying to get back together.

The incident took place at their workplace premises, where, allegedly, both the victims entered into heated arguments with each other.

Police said that the dispute turned fatal when the alleged perpetrator started attacking her with a sharp weapon, resulting in severe injuries and eventually death of the victim.

The witnesses and other colleagues inside the office reached out to help the victims after the attack, and the local authorities were alerted.

However, the victim had to be taken for medical help in an ambulance, but unfortunately could not survive due to her injuries.

According to the investigation, after attacking her, the accused was found to be in a state where he tried to commit suicide.

After his preliminary treatment, the alleged accused was taken to the police station, and he was kept under supervision.

Police have confirmed that the entire incident was caught on the CCTVs installed inside the office.

According to authorities, they are analysing the CCTVs and recording the statements of every employee.

A case has been registered in this regard, and further investigation and legal actions would be taken as per the investigation reports. Authorities appealed to people to seek help, be it from loved ones or from experts and therapists in cases of emotional disturbances.

The case is a shocking turn of events, and the need for spreading awareness about workplace safety has become of prime importance.
