New Delhi: Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has nominated a 1994 batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer Anurag Kumar as the new Commissioner of Delhi Police.

Kumar would replace Satish Golcha, who has been heading the force since August 2025.

Prior to the current assignment in the national capital, Kumar was holding the post of Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

He was recently repatriated to his parent AGMUT cadre upon approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), chaired by PM Modi.

According to MHA’s order, Golcha will now report to the LG of Delhi after the charge of Delhi police Commissioner is handed over to Anurag Kumar.

It is considered to be a significant change at the top of capital’s police.

Anurag Kumar’s experience in the intelligence domain and internal security would surely help in further fortifying law and order in the city.
