Govt Up School Headmaster lands in Vigilance net

Khordha: Shaikh Rayaz Alli, the Headmaster of a Government UP School under Balipatna Block of Khordha district landed in Odisha Vigilance net after he was caught while demanding and taking bribe.

Alli was nabbed while he was taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from his predecessor (ex- Headmaster of the School) towards reimbursement of the expenditure incurred by the former headmaster under Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme for four months while awaiting allotment of funds.

As the ex-headmaster was relieved before the funds allotment and drawal of the amount, he requested accused Rayaz Alli to release the amount in shape of cheque as per government guidelines. However, the accused demanded a bribe Rs 15,000 from the complaint to release the cheque.

Being aggrieved by the demanded bribe, the complainant approached the vigilance authorities, following which, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed accused Rayaz Alli today while taking the bribe.

The entire tainted bribe money Rs 15,000 has been recovered from the possession of accused Alli and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted by Odisha Vigilance at two locations linked to Rayaz Alli from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.

In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No. 23 dtd. 03.09.2026 u/s 7 of the P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Shaikh Rayaz Alli, headmater.
