Looters Gang Busted in Ganjam, 4 Arrested, Gold and Silver Jewellery worth Over Rs 13 Lakh Seized

Bhanjanagar: Police busted an inter-district looters gang in Ganjam district of Odisha on Saturday and arrested four persons. Bhanjanagar Police busted the gang and seized a large quantity of stolen gold and silver jewellery from their possession.

According to police, the gang was involved in thefts across different police station areas of Bhanjanagar sub-division and had been evading arrest.

Acting on the directions of Ganjam SP, raids were conducted at multiple locations under the leadership of the Bhanjanagar Police Station IIC. During the operation, police recovered 66 grams of stolen gold ornaments and over 2.5 kg of silver ornaments from the gang.

The value of the seized jewellery is estimated to be over Rs 13 lakh.

Police said the accused were targeting houses in Bhanjanagar sub-division and selling the stolen items later. Further investigation is underway to trace more stolen property and check the gang’s links in other districts.

All four arrested have been forwarded to court.
