Woman stoned to death in Angul, Daughter-in-law detained

Angul: In a shocking case, a woman was allegedly stoned to death in her rented house at Khalari Jamubandha Chhak under Angul Sadar police station.

The deceased has been identified as Kuni Nayak, a resident of the same village. .

As per reports, Kuni Nayak’s son Kanhu, had gone to call her for dinner. He knocked the door, but it remained locked. Upon opening the door, he found his mother was found lying in a pool of blood.

On seeing this, Kahnu immediately alerted the police, and a team from Sadar Police Station arrived at the scene and started a probe into the matter. A scientific team and sniffer dogs were deployed at the spot. The body has been sent to the district headquarters hospital for a post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the police have detained the daughter-in-law of the victim and the daughter-in-law’s mother for further questioning.
