Bhubaneswar: The Cyber Crime Unit of CID, Crime Branch, Odisha, has successfully facilitated the recovery of 1,10,00,000 defrauded from a victim of “Digital Arrest” fraud, through prompt action under the 1930 Cyber Helpline mechanism.

The victim of the fraud who is a retired Professor living in Bhubaneswar, had lodged a complaint on May 15, 2026 on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), alleging a financial loss of Rs 2,45,24,540 in an “Digital Arrest” fraud during February 2026.

A case was also registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station, CID, Crime Branch (Case No. 08 dated 02.03.2026) under relevant provisions of the BNS and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
