Elderly woman, 2 sons killed inside underground water tank in Uttarakhand

Dehradun: A tragic incident took place in which an elderly woman and two sons lost their lives inside a underground water tank in Ninital, Uttarakhand today.

The reason behind this tragic incident to occur is yet to be known but it is believed that a gas leak from a biogas plant near the tank may have caused it.

The vitcims of this incident are identified as 44-year-old Dharmendra Bisht, 38-year-old Khushal Singh Bisht and 65-year-old Saraswati Devi.

The incident occurred when Dharmendra got down in the underground water tank to remove the shuttering but lost his consciousness. After not getting response from his brother Khushal got down to check on him but lost consciousness. Later, after both the sons of the elderly woman failed to come out of the tank, Saraswati Devi went down but collapsed.

Following the incident, the family screamed for help and villagers gathered to rescue the victims. The three unconscious people were taken to hospital for medical treatment. They were declared dead by the doctors.

The elderly woman and his two sons have consumed methane and hydrogen and got suffocated. The exact cause of the death will be cleared after post-mortem report.

Further investigation into this matter is underway.
