2 killed, 5 injured after 22-Foot Ganesh Idol collapses in Mumbai

Mumbai: At least 2 people were killed and five others were injured after a 22-foot Ganesh idol collapsed while making its way towards pandal for arrival of ‘Bhuleshwaracha Raja’ on Saturday night in south Mumbai.
The deceased have been identified as 33-year-old Sanket Nevshe and 30-year-old Brijesh Hemant Joshi.
As per reports, the incident occured around 10 PM on Balaram Merchant road in Bhuleshwar when the idol was being carried but stumbled about 50 meters before the pandal.
The falling idol hit people who were present during the procession, leaving several people including two minors injured.
Some of the nuts and bolts in the frame structure holding up the idol had gone loose, added reports.

On being informed, the Mumbai Fire brigade, Mumbai police, traffic police and all possible ambulances through 108 service had arrived at the spot.
The victims were rushed to the nearby hospital where doctors declared the two dead on arrival.
Reportedly, the five injured include Vaibhav Ghenand and Pawan Chaurasia who are being treated at GT Hospital, 5-year-old Lavanya Ganer, 7-year-old Divya Ganer and 26-year-old Kunal Kashid is undergoing treatment at JJ hospital.
