Kolkata: Panic has gripped families after 15 fishermen went missing in the deep sea while fishing for Hilsa. According to reports, the fishermen had set out on July 2 in a trawler named ‘Maa Kali’ from Shankarpur beach in West Bengal to catch fish in the deep sea. There has been no trace of the trawler and the 15 fishermen on board since then.
On July 3, the Meteorological Department had issued a warning about a possible rough sea and had advised all trawlers in the sea to return to the coast.
Following the alert, most of the trawlers returned safely. However, the ‘Maa Kali’ trawler is yet to return and all contact with those on board has been lost.
It has now been 7 days since they went missing, but there is still no information about the fishermen. With no contact with their family members either, anxiety and fear among relatives is growing.
