Odisha SIR: Draft Voter List to Be Published Tomorrow, Claims and Objections till Aug 4

Bhubaneswar: The Special Intensive Revision, SIR, of the voter list in Odisha has reached its final stage. The much-awaited draft voter list will be published tomorrow, reports said.

According to the Election Commission, Booth Level Officers have distributed forms to over 93.5% of households during the door-to-door survey. Around 93.5% of the forms have already been collected.

Draft roll publication: Tomorrow

Claims & Objections period: Till August 4. Citizens can file objections, apply for inclusion of new names using Form-6, deletion of names of deceased or shifted voters using Form-7, and corrections in name, age, address or EPIC details using Form-8.

Disposal of claims & hearings: Till September 2

Final voter list publication: September 6

The main objective of this extensive campaign is to delete ineligible names and add new eligible voters. Those who will attain 18 years of age by July 1, 2026, will be included. The drive also aims to remove duplicate entries, and names of deceased and shifted voters, and correct errors in name, age, address and identity details.

How to check and file claims

Voters can verify details at their local booth office, on the CEO Odisha official portal, or through the NVSP app. From July 17, hearings on claims and objections will also be conducted virtually.

The Election Commission has urged all citizens and political parties to thoroughly check the draft roll so that no genuine voter is left out of their right to vote.

Currently, Odisha has around 3.34 crore voters. With the new revision, the number of polling stations is expected to increase from 38,000 to over 45,000.Officials said if the public needs more time due to document issues, the government may consider an extension of the deadline.
