Fire breaks out in Delhi labour slum, 20 fire tenders rushed to spot

New Delhi: A fierce blaze gutted a major portion of a labour settlement in Delhi’s Govind Puri area after an electrical panel reportedly snapped, engulfing a number of structures within minutes.

The Delhi Fire Service received a call on Wednesday, and around 20 fire tenders were rushed to the spot as a huge plume of smoke billowed across the Delhi sky.

However, officials said that there was no report of death or serious injury

Property damage has run into crores of rupees as the fire had rapidly spread through the settlement due to closely built structures.

Further property damage will be assessed soon.

An investigation has been launched to find the cause of the electrical failure and fire, an official said.
