The video clip sparked widespread outrage among the people. People are demanding strict punishment against the accused female officer seeking the safety of women in the area.
Reportedly, the viral video from West Bengal was posted on the popular social media platform X shows a lady police attempts to kiss woman by an account named @KrishanuOnline. The video shows a woman police officer pulling a woman towards her and forcefully kissing her in the presence of other people. The female officer identified as ASI Tanya Roy, was on duty and in an inebriated state while the incident occurred.
Recently, the Siliguri Police Commissionerate established Pink Patrol Vans to boost women’s safety in the city. The pink van operates 24/7. However the female officer was in charge of one of the Pink Patrol Vans. As per sources, the pink van hit a gambler on Wednesday night. Local women also gathered in the area. The female officer was visibly seen in an argument with other people present there, amidst the on going argument, she suddenly grabbed a woman towards her and kissed her on the lips. She has been suspended after the video went viral.
Not only this, the female officer was also accused of assaulting two minors who were talking in the school area at night in Siliguri. As per locals, a boy and a girl were just talking in the school area at night in Siliguri. The female officer abused the minors stating that they were committing indecent behaviour. She was drunk when she harassed the minors. Now she harassed a woman civilian sexually.
The senior police officers said that, the officer had already been suspended for her inappropriate act and a departmental inquiry against her had been initiated.
