17 Police personnel from Odisha to get Police Service Awards 2026, Watch

Bhubaneswar: The Police Service Awards 2026 have been announced with 17 personnel from Odisha set to receive national honours for their service.

Among the awardees from Odisha, 2 officers will be conferred the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, 5 personnel will receive the Medal for Gallantry, and 10 will be awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service.

ADG Sanjeeb Panda and DSP Smitarani Mohanty from Odisha Police have been selected for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.

Sub-Inspector Manmath Mahapatra, Havildar Nirakar Bhue, and Commandos Santosh Gurung, Suman Pun and Suresh Chandra Puta have been named for the Medal for Gallantry.

In the Fire Service, ASO Malay Mohanty will receive the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, while 2 other personnel will be awarded the Medal for Gallantry. One personnel from Civil Defence and Home Guards has also been selected for the Medal for Gallantry. Similarly, 2 personnel from Correctional Services will receive the Medal for Gallantry.

The President’s Medal for Distinguished Service and the Medal for Meritorious Service are awarded for long, dedicated and professionally competent service. The Medal for Gallantry recognises personnel who have displayed conspicuous courage and valour in dangerous situations while performing their duties.

Officials said the selection of 17 personnel from Odisha for these national awards is a matter of great pride for the state police and allied services. The recognition reflects the commitment of Odisha’s police, fire, civil defence and correctional staff in maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety.
