Lord Jagannath’s ‘Ubhayatra’ Ritual Today in Srikhetra, Public Darshan Suspended

Puri: The day before the world-famous Rath Yatra, the ritual of Ubhayatra of Lord Jagannath is held in Srimandira on Pratipada tithi. As the Shri Gundicha Yatra is scheduled for Thursday, the Agyanmala was taken to the Rath Khala today.
Due to Rath Yatra preparations and the large number of rituals, public darshan at Srimandir has been completely suspended for the day.
After Gopal Ballabh and the morning dhupa, the Agyanmala Bije ritual was performed at the Rath Khala. Following this, oil was applied to the wheels and axles of the three chariots in preparation to move them to the Singhadwara.
Later, servitors along with the Srimandir administration and police pulled the three chariots from the Rath Khala to the Singhadwara. After bringing the three chariots to the Chakada of Singhadwara, the were given the north.

Tomorrow, after the Ratha Pratistha ritual, the Chaturdha Murati will board the three chariots for the Gundicha Yatra.
Yesterday, after the two-hour Nabajoubana Besha darshan, the Datta Mahapatra servitors entered Srimandir at 4 AM for Banaka Lagi. To speed up the rituals, darshan was closed yesterday as well. Today too, the temple administration has decided to keep public darshan suspended to expedite rituals and to ensure an early Pahandi the next day, said the Chief Administrator of Srimandir.
The Senapata Lagi will be held from 11 PM tonight till 5 AM tomorrow.
