South-West Monsoon Covers Entire Odisha; Rain Likely for Next 5 Days, IMD Issues Yellow Warning

Bhubaneswar: The South-West Monsoon has now covered the entire state of Odisha, the India Meteorological Department said.

The monsoon’s advance into Odisha began on June 12 this year, reaching the state 8 days after hitting Kerala. It entered through the northern parts and has taken 11 days to cover the whole state.

A trough line also remains active over Odisha. The IMD has forecast rain across the state for the next five days. Heavy rainfall is likely in Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Bargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and Balasore districts.

For today, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Gajapati may see heavy rain. The department has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph in several parts of the state.
