Ganjam: Truck Plunges 30 Feet off Bada Ghati, Driver Injured

Berhampur: A major accident occurred late at night yesterday near Bada Ghati in Khallikote area of Ganjam district in Odisha when a container truck fell about 30 feet off National Highway-16.

According to reports, the cashew husk-laden container was on its way from Gopalpur to Delhi when its brakes claimingly failed near Bada Ghati. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which hit the roadside barricade and plunged nearly 30 feet down from the highway before overturning.

The driver, identified as Firoz Khan, sustained minor injuries. He was rescued by locals and admitted to Khallikote hospital for treatment.

On being informed, Khallikote police reached the spot and began an investigation.

Police said the exact cause of the accident will be ascertained after inquiry, whether it was due to brake failure or any other reason.

Traffic on the highway was briefly affected following the incident.
