DGP in-charge Vinaytosh Mishra holds video conferencing meeting with District SPs and Range IGs/DIGs

Kataka: A high-level review meeting on law and order, crime control and police system of the state was held at the State Police Headquarters this morning under the chairmanship of Director General of Police (DGP) in-charge Vinaytosh Mishra. All the Ranger IGs/DIGs of the state and Superintendent of Police (SPs) of all the districts attended the meeting through video conferencing.
The meeting discussed in detail the current law and order situation in the state, crime suppression and control, identification of sensitive areas, review of major crimes, provision of better police services to the public and various administrative issues.
The DGP in-charge advised the officers to listen patiently to every citizen who comes to the police station with a complaint, treat them respectfully and amicably and ensure impartial and speedy investigation of the complaint. He emphasized that the police officers and employees should be present at their offices regularly to perform their duties and further improve the functioning of the police stations and the police services provided to the public. He also directed the SDPOs to regularly visit the police stations under their jurisdiction and monitor the work.
In the meeting, the Vinaytosh Mishra discussed in detail the current law and order situation, identification of sensitive areas, review of major crimes and next steps for crime control.
Various festivals like Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday, Janmashtami, Ganesh Puja, Nuakhai, Vishwakarma Puja, Durga Puja, Gajalakshmi Puja, Diwali/Kalipuja, Amla Navami, Panchuka and Bali Yatra will be celebrated between August and November.
The DGP in-charge emphasized on advance security preparations to celebrate these festivals in a peaceful, orderly and safe environment. He directed for adequate police deployment at sensitive places, crowd control, traffic management, peace committee meetings and constant coordination with local people’s representatives and various groups. He said that continuous vigil should be maintained in communally sensitive areas and preventive measures should be taken to avoid possible untoward incidents.

The Mishra directed to take strict and strong legal action against habitual criminals and organised criminals to control crime. He said that naka checking and patrolling should be increased to prevent illegal cattle transport and illegal manufacture of arrows and regular raids should be conducted against illegal mining and transport, vehicle inspection and prompt legal action should be taken against violators.
He directed to keep a regular and strict watch on rumours, inflammatory, offensive and misleading information being circulated on social media and to take prompt and legal action against such propaganda. He emphasized on further strengthening intelligence gathering, obtaining advance information about possible crimes and untoward incidents and taking preventive steps accordingly.
The DGP in-charge directed to further strengthen the activities of cyber police stations to combat cyber crime and to make the investigation and action in cyber crime related cases more effective. He asked the SPs to visit the cyber police stations once a week and review the work.
In addition, the DGP in-charge directed all the district SPs to organize peace committee meetings regularly, increase public relations in the local area and take preventive steps to prevent possible untoward incidents.
He also advised to perform the duty with good coordination and communication at all levels to further enhance the performance of the police and public welfare services.
Many other concerned senior officials also attended the meeting.
