Four specialised NDRF teams deployed in Puri ahead of Rath Yatra

Baranga: Four teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) belonging to the 3rd battalion of the Mundali unit have been deputed at Puri in anticipation of the world famous Rath Yatra.

Based on the request of the State Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), the teams reached the temple city on Sunday night to augment disaster management and emergency response capacities of the state government for Lord Jagannath’s grand car festival.

As per reports, three of the four NDRF specialist teams have been deployed with the mission to provide support for crowd management and emergency response and have also been equipped with MFR Kits, rescue equipment, communication devices, etc. and all necessary tools & logistic support in order to provide immediate response in case of disaster or any emergent situations.

Similarly, the fourth team has been specially tasked for responding to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) situations.

The NDRF commandants in charge for its third battalion in Mundali will oversee the preparatory action and will monitor the performance of these NDRF teams during the grand Rath Yatra.

Other battalion officers shall also keenly observe the co-ordination, performance and field activities to ensure a secured atmosphere for the devotees during the car festival.
