Odisha Vigilance nabs record keeper and driver of Brahmagiri Tahasil while taking bribe

Puri: Narendra Kumar Sahoo, the Junior Clerk (Record Keeper) and Jitendra Kumar Sahoo, the driver of Brahmagiri Tahasil in Puri have been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and taking bribe.
Vigilance nabbed the duo while they were taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from an applicant for issuing and serving notices in connection with demarcation of his plot.
A few days back, Narendra Kumar Sahoo had taken Rs 8,000 from the applicant to initiate steps required for plot demarcation. The applicant had applied online for this on April 3, 2026 as per rules of the Government of Odisha in R&DM Department.
Even after taking Rs 8,000, the Record Keeper was not initiating the process. Instead, he demanded bribe Rs 20,000 from the applicant for the above purpose. Being aggrieved by the demanded bribe, the applicant (complainant) approached the vigilance authorities narrating his harassment by Sahoo, Record Keeper.
Today, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Narendra Kumar Sahoo and Jitendra Kumar Sahoo while taking bribe Rs 20,000 from the complaint in the former’s office room. The entire tainted bribe money Rs 20,000 has been recovered from their possession and seized.

Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations linked to Narendra Kumar Sahoo, Junior Clerk (Record Keeper) from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No. 17 dtd. 29.07.2026, u/s 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against both the accused and is under investigation.
Narendra Sahoo was arrested earlier in a trap case for taking bribe Rs 18,000 for conversion of agricultural land to homestead land.
