Odisha set to receive constant rain till July 28, orange alert issued for 3 districts

Bhubanewar: Odisha has been experiencing continuous rainfall due to the active presence of the southwest monsoon over the state.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Sundaragada, Jharsuguda and Kendujhar districts on Thursday warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated places.

Also, Yellow Alert has been issued for 12 districts.

There is a chance of light to moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning in many places in the state with rain activity is likely to continue in Odisha till July 28.

On the day of Bahuda Yatra, heavy rainfall is predicted for Baleshwar and Mayurbhanj along with thunderstorms and lightning.

Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Kataka and Jagatsinghpur are likely to receive moderate rainfall with intense lighting.

In the last 24 hours, Athagada received the highest rainfall of 21 cm while Hatadihi of Kendujhar district received 19 mm rain.

In total, from June 1 to the current date, Odisha received 526.6 mm rainfall which is 17 percent more than the average rainfall.

From the past 24 hours, 10 districts recorded heavy rainfall in the state.
