Jharsuguda: In a major anti-narcotics operation, a large quantity of ganja was seized from a car on the Sambalpur-Jharsuguda Biju Expressway.

Badmal police seized around 2.5 quintals of ganja, valued at approximately Rs 25 lakh, and arrested one person.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the early hours when a team from Badmal police station was carrying out routine patrolling near Kherual.

During the drive, police noticed a suspicious multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) moving along the route and attempted to stop the vehicle for checking. After seeing the police team, the driver allegedly tried to escape and accelerated the car at high speed.

While trying to flee, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the car crashed into a roadside divider. Taking immediate action, the police reached the spot and inspected the damaged vehicle. During the search, they recovered a large number of ganja packets and sacks hidden inside the car.
