Odisha Govt Doubles Uniform Allowance For Jail Staff, 2500 Personnel to Benefit

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has doubled the annual uniform allowance for jail department officers and staff. The proposal has been approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

As per the decision, the annual uniform allowance for 378 officers from Jail DIG to Assistant Matron has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000.

Similarly, for 2,122 Chief Warders, Warders and Female Warders, the uniform allowance has been hiked from Rs 4,000 to Rs 8,000.

A total of 2,500 jail officers and employees will benefit from the revised allowance. Officials said the new allowance will be implemented from the current financial year.

The hike will entail an additional annual expenditure of Rs 96.22 lakh for the state exchequer.

Eligible jail personnel will receive the enhanced uniform allowance from this year onwards.
