Watch: Doctors’ strike delays post-mortem of minor labourer who died in illegal mining three days ago

Sundargarh: In a tragic incident, a minor labourer has died following a soil collapse during suspected illegal manganese mining activities within the Malda Reserved Forest under Koida police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as a 14-year-old boy of Joda.
As per reports, the minor had gone along with his father for work at the mine site, when the unfortunate soil collapse took his life.
On receiving information, police had reached the site and seized the body.
Following which, his body has been lying in the morgue of Tata Hospital in Joda since wednesday as no autopsy could be performed on it due to the ongoing protest by doctors of the facility.

The deceased’s body was sent to the Barbil Tata Hospital for post mortem on Thursday.
But due to lack of proper medical facilities due to doctors’ strike, the body was sent back to the Joda hospital.
The incident has once again highlighted the issue of alleged illegal manganese mining from reserved forests and using child labourer in illegal mining activities.
