3-Storey Building Collapses In Pune, 16 Feared Trapped

Pune: A 3-storey building reportedly collapsed in Pimpri-Chinchwad area of Pune district in Maharashtra on Wednesday. As a result, at least 16 people have been feared trapped under the debris.
According to officials, the incident occurred near the garbage depot in Moshi at the Waste-to-Energy project site. Heavy rainfall in the region is believed to have triggered the collapse.
Teams from police, fire department and rescue personnel have reached the spot and launched rescue operations. Officials said employees trapped on the second floor have been rescued safely. However, some people are still feared trapped on the ground floor. One person has been admitted to hospital in critical condition.
NDRF teams, fire brigade and ambulance units are also at the site carrying out the rescue operation.

The local mayor said the building was an administrative structure located near an old garbage dump.
Due to continuous heavy rains, the foundation weakened and the building collapsed. It is suspected that 16 employees of a private company were inside the building at the time of the collapse.
Heavy rains have caused widespread damage across several states in the country, with multiple incidents reported in Maharashtra over the last few days.
