Rayagada: Forest officials raid against illegal chromite mining, several vehicles seized

Rayagada: Tikiri Forest officials in Odisha’s Rayagada reportedly conducted raids against illegal chromite mining and seized several vehicles.

Acting on a top off, a team of Tikiri Forest Department conducted a raid ad seized the stolen chromite from the Bhalumaska forest of Shiripai Panchayat under Tikiri Forest Reserve.

During the raid, the forest officials seized a tipper, motorcycle and JCB machine from the spot. However, no arrest were made as none was present during the raid

Tikiri Forest suspects the involvement of mafia from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

Source said that the illegal smuggling of the natural resources had been going on in this area for a long time.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to identify the owners of the vehicles and take necessary actions.
