New Delhi: The unexpected removal of Minister Lakhan Patel from the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department has fueled speculation of an imminent Cabinet reshuffle.
After a gazette notification was issued late Thursday evening after the removal, CM Mohan Yadav has retained the portfolio with himself.
When contacted, Lakhan Patel said the allocation or withdrawal of ministerial portfolios is the Chief Minister’s prerogative and declined to comment further.
Days earlier, the Madhya Pradesh BJP chief, Hemant Khandelwal, had told the media that the party had completed a performance evaluation report for all ministers.
The government and the same was handed over to the BJP’s central leadership.

Although there is no direct official link between the evaluation of ministers and the removal of Lakhan Patel, the timing has strengthened the view about a reshuffle in the CM Yadav government.
The government cited no reason for the withdrawal of the portfolio.
Though no official information has been given regarding any other reshuffle in the state cabinet, political observers see it as an initial indication.
However, political observers believe the latest move could be the first sign of a wider reorganisation of the state Cabinet.
