Former women Naxals showcase Chhattisgarh handlooms in Raipur

Chhattisgarh: Dressed in colourful handloom fabrics, ex-women Naxal members appeared on a ramp to showcase handloom attire from Chhattisgarh on National Handloom Day.
The women walked the ramp, showcasing weaving traditions of Chhattisgarh at the state government-organized show.
It highlighted not only the traditional cloth but also gave a platform to share their stories of resilience and transformation.
The event focused on their journey from violence and conflict towards rehabilitation, dignity and self-reliance.
Their presence was also intended to reflect on the manner in which rehabilitation initiatives are assisting the former insurgents in starting life anew.

It displayed not just the state’s rich weaving traditions, but also the shifting socio-economic scene in Bastar and Chhattisgarh.
It is an ambitious move to offer an opportunity for the surrendered Naxal cadres to re integrate their society.
This event was organized on the occasion of National Handloom Day.
It sought to present and bridge an ideal between cultural past and new narratives of rehabilitation and a fresh start.
