China: 8 killed after landslide caused by heavy rainfall in Chongqing

New Delhi: A tragic incident took place in which 8 people lost their lives due to landslide caused by heavy rainfall in Chongqing in southwest China yesterday. The country in which this incident took place is said to be Pengshui.

As per reports, after the landslide 34 people have gone missing and are being searched by 800 rescue workers. The rescue operation is being interrupted by heavy rain and unstable ground.

More than 10 houses have been buried under mud and rocks following the disaster.

However, as a precautionary measure more than 1,100 people have been moved to safer places. The Chinese government has started relief and rescue operations.

The reason behind the landslide to occur is still under investigation.
