4 Women of ‘Lady Looters’ Gang Arrested in Angul, Cash and Gold Ring Seized

Angul: Town Police in Angul of Odisha have busted a ‘lady looters’ gang and arrested 4 women and a man. The four female gang member of the looters’ gang and the man were creating panic by committing thefts during the Bahuda Yatra. All of them have been arrested.

According to Police, all the accused hail from Madhya Pradesh. The gang had come to Angul to take advantage of the Bahuda crowd and loot people.

Police have seized Rs 23,300 in cash, 5 mobile phones, 1 gold ring and 4 vanity bags from them.

According to information, there was a huge gathering at the Shailashri Kshetra Bahuda Yatra yesterday. Amid the crowd, the women looters were targeting people — snatching money purses from some and mobiles from others. But they could not escape the sharp eyes of police personnel who had kept strict vigil while in plain clothes.

The Special Squad first caught one woman looter and then tracked the rest of the gang. Instead of arresting the first accused immediately, police kept surveillance to see who she was meeting. After trailing all the gang member, police nabbed the entire gang.

Police said the group had specifically come to commit thefts during the Bahuda Yatra.

All the accused were produced in court on Saturday.
