Odisha has pushed ahead quickly with its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, handing out enumeration forms to 99.2% of voters. At a review meeting in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, officials shared that they’ve already digitized 46.44% of these forms.
Looking at voter mapping, Odisha started with 3.33 crore registered voters. Now, officials have mapped 3.16 crore of them—so 94.6% of voters are accounted for. That leaves just 5.34% still unmapped.

Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti led the review and spoke directly with district collectors from nine different districts. He said he was satisfied with Odisha’s progress but stressed that the final electoral roll needs to include every eligible voter. To keep things moving quickly, Chief Electoral Officer RS Gopalan told the nine district collectors to speed up their work and aim to finish all local tasks by June 23 or 24—even though the official submission deadline is June 28.
To make sure things stay on track, the government froze all transfers for officials working on SIR duties in every constituency. They’ve also strengthened the effort by adding 275 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers to help out. Additional CEO Sushant Kumar Mishra gave a detailed presentation on Tuesday, showing the logistical improvements and tracking how the whole drive is moving forward statewide.
