Farmer and elderly woman electrocuted by live fence wire in Balasore

Baleshwar: An incident that shook a village and turned it to mourning as two lost their lives after they came in contact with a live electric wire attached to a fence of a farmland.

This incident took place in Mahishapanda village of Simulia police station limits in Odisha’s Balasore district.

The deceased identified as local farmer Babuli Das and Parbati Munda, an old woman of the area.

As per locals, farmer Babuli Das had tied a wire fence in his paddy paddy field one day ago to keep stray animals away from his paddy seedlings.

A live electric connection had been given to the fence for that purpose.

In the morning, Babuli entered the paddy field without knowledge that the live wire was still connected to the fence, he came into contact with it and received an electric shock.

On seeing him in this state, the elderly woman, Parbati Munda, ran to save him but she also got shocked after coming in contact with the live wire.

Both the victims died on the spot before any help arrived.

Immediately the villagers turned off the electricity connection and informed the fire brigade and ambulance.

The victims were rescued and sent to Simulia Community Health Center where doctors declared them brought dead.

An investigation into the incident has been initiated by the police.
