America: U.S. President Donald Trump has stated the now viral “I’m the boss” remark at last week’s G7 Summit was a joke and not an attempt to declare authority over world leaders.

Speaking on his decision to comment, at which cameras captured the U.S. President gesturing over other world leaders to assert, Trump stated, “It wasn’t being disrespectful.”

“I thought, ‘I’ll just go ahead and be nice,’ it was just to be cute, and a little bit of fun.

The remark happened last Friday at a G7 in France. While supporters viewed the remark as humorous and harmless, critics viewed the moment as another display of Trump’s authoritative persona and overbearing style.

His comment occurred the same day of his dispute with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, as a result of Meloni disputing the president’s claim that the two were photographed together the last time Trump was in power.
