Girl critical after being attacked by boyfriend’s family, boyfriend detained

Jajpur: In a shocking incident, a young woman was allegedly beaten up by her boyfriend’s entire family after he invited her to his home on the pretext of marriage in Dharmasala area of ​​Jajpur district. Besides, they allegedly looted the cash and gold jewelry she had brought with her.

One Sameer Sahu of Mirzapur village of the district had been in a relationship for six years with a young girl of Dubagadia village under the jurisdiction of Dharmasala police station limits.

Yesterday evening, Sameer allegedly invited her to his home with the promise of marriage. Responding to Sameer’s proposal of marriage, she secretly left her home to elope with him.

However, upon arriving at Sameer’s house, she was subjected to a physical assault instead of a wedding. Sameer’s family members allegedly assaulted her brutally and snatched away her money and gold jewelry.

The girl suffered a fracture in one of her arms and legs, along with injuries to various parts of her body due to the brutality. Following this, Sameer took her to the Dharmasala Community Health Centre (CHC) in a very critical condition during the night. However, as her condition worsened further, she was shifted to the SCB Hospital in Kataka, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, Dharmasala police arrived at the hospital after getting information, alerted the girl’s family members, and recorded her initial statement.

As part of their investigation, police have detained the girl’s family boyfriend, Samir, at the police station and are conducting further investigation into the incident.
