Low Pressure Forms Over Bay of Bengal, Likely to Intensify in 48 Hours

Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal and is likely to intensify further in the next 48 hours, the regional MeT Dept said on Wednesday.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the system will intensify and move in a north-west direction. Under its influence, Odisha is expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall in several places.

Widespread rain is likely across the state till August 17. The entire state is likely to receive rain till August 15.The IMD has issued an Orange Warning for Angul and Keonjhar districts for heavy to very heavy rain.

Heavy rainfall is also likely in 15 districts. Sundargarh has been put under an Orange Alert for tomorrow.

Along the Odisha coast and adjoining sea areas, winds are likely to blow at 40 to 50 kmph till August 15, with gusts reaching up to 60 kmph at times.

Squally winds and rough sea conditions are also expected. In view of the rough sea, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the Odisha coast and adjoining sea areas till August 15.
