Drone flies over Shree Jagannath Temple ahead of Rath Yatra, raises security concerns

Puri: Questions on Shree Jagannath Temple security resurfaced once again as a drone was seen hovering in the no-fly zone over the temple early morning on Thursday.

As per reports, the drone was seen at 5:30 AM and stayed over the Nilachakra for quite some time.

There are also reports that the drone was capturing footage from inside the inner sanctum.

The development takes place just days before the Rath Yatra which will be held on coming Thursday.

Security has been tightened across Puri and even a mock drill was conducted on possible terror attacks around the temple premises.

Flying of a drone over the shrine has been considered a major security lapse and an open challenge to the police.

Acting on the incident, police have apprehended the youth who was allegedly operating the drone.

Both the individual and the drone have been taken to Singhadwar police station for questioning.
