Odisha Vigilance unearths 15 plots, Rs 3.45 lakh cash from CADA engineer

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha vigilance officials have unearthered plots and cash during ongoing searches linked to Padmalochan Nayak, Executive Engineer of the Command Area Development Authority (CADA), Sambalpur Division, as part of a disproportionate assets investigation on Tuesday.

The searches were carried out at properties associated with Nayak in Sambalpur, Kataka, Baleshwar and Malkangiri districts.

As per official sources, searches conducted so far have revealed two multi storeyed residential buildings, 15 valuable plots, cash, vehicles and other movable assets allegedly linked to Nayak and his family members.

Among the major assets is a triple-storeyed residential building spread over approximately 7,000 sq ft at Bidyadharpur in Kataka. Another double-storeyed residential building measuring around 1,465 sq ft was found at Mukhalis in Baleshwar district.

Officials have also detected 15 plots located on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar as well as in Kataka, Korei in Jajpur district, Basta in Baleshwar district and Delanga in Puri district.

During the searches, officials recovered cash amounting to Rs 3.45 lakh along with foreign currency notes from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bahrain and the United States.

The officials have also found a JCB machine, three four-wheelers, including a Toyota Innova, Tata Indigo and WagonR, and a two-wheeler.

In addition, details of bank deposits, postal savings, and other financial investments linked to Nayak and his family members were being verified.

As the search is continuing and further details will be mentioned will be known after the investigation is completed.
