Odisha: Elderly woman murdered brutally inside house in Khordha’s Jatani

Jatani: In a shocking incident, an elderly woman was allegedly murdered by miscreants inside her house in Odisha’s Khordha district on late Friday might. The incident occured in Uparabasta village under Jatni police limits in Khordha. The incident has has created panic among the local people.

According to the primary investigation reports of police, it is being suspected that the woman could have been killed with the intention of robbery. The deceased has been identified as Shantilata Pradhan. She was living alone in the house as her son has been hospitalized to receive treatment for some aliment.

According to reports, unidentified miscreants entered her house late at night and brutally attacked her. She sustained severe head injuries in the assault, leading to her death on the spot.

Family members discovered Shantilata lying in a pool of blood inside the house and immediately informed the Jatni police.

On receiving information, the police rushed to the scene, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. An investigation has been initiated into the incident.

Police is investigating the incident and are examining all possible angles, including robbery as the motive behind the murder. Police are also collecting forensic evidence, CCTV footage and questioning local residents to identify the perpetrators.
