Bhubaneswar: Man arrested for smuggling huge quantity of country liquor in milk van

Bhubaneswar: In a dramatic turn of event, Excise Department arrested a man on charges of smuggling a huge quantity of country liquor in a milk van in Bhubaneswar.

Acting on the tip-off of country liquor smuggling in the milk van, the Excise mobile unit kept a close vigil on the vehicle, with OD 05 AC 7739, and intersected it near the Xavier Square yesterday while it was moved towards Patia area.

During inspection, the officials seized 1,080 litres of country liquor from the vehicle and arrested the driver whom they identified as Sheikh Islam Khan.

During investigation, it was found that Khan was driving the vehicle towards Patia area in Bhubaneswar from Athagada in Cuttack district.

Further probe into the matter is underway to find out the involvement in the incident.
