Three arrested with 19 grams of brown sugar in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Maitri Vihar police in Bhubaneswar City arrested as many as three persons on charges of possessing and peddling brown sugar on Utkal Hospital Road on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of cops conducted a raid on the Utkal Hospital Road under the Maitri Vihar police station limits when the three persons were planning to sale the contraband.
During interrogation and inspection of the three persons, cops recovered 19 grams of brown sugar from the tem, whom they identified as Jhadeswar Nayak alia Sambhu, Maguni Behera and Gopikishan Rao. All of them are said to be the residents of Salia Sahi area.

While the market value of the seized brown sugar is assumed to be over two lakhs, police also seized two mobile phones from the possessions of the accused persons.
Apart from making arrangement to forward the trio to the court after making their medical examination and registering a special case under different sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, police also have started an investigation to find out whether Jhadeswar, Maguni and Gopikishan were running a drug racket and others are involved in the smuggling.
