Bhubaneswar: Odisha is immersed in festive fervour as devotees throng temples and decorated puja pandals to offer prayers to Goddess Durga.

While Dussehra is being observed at various Shakti Peethas across the state, public Durga Puja pandals are witnessing Maha Navami rituals, creating a spiritually vibrant atmosphere filled with devotional chants, conch-shell sounds, traditional music and recitations of the Chandi Path.

Devotees are gathering in large numbers to seek the blessings of the Goddess, as elaborate rituals and special puja ceremonies mark one of the most significant days of the Durga Puja festival.

Durga Puja traditions in Odisha vary between traditional Shakti Peethas and community-organised puja pandals. At Shakti Peethas, the Goddess is worshipped according to age-old temple customs, with special rituals performed in keeping with established traditions.

Meanwhile, public pandals across the state are observing Maha Navami with the worship of clay idols of Goddess Durga. Special ceremonies include homa-yajna, Chandi Path, floral offerings and other religious observances, drawing devotees throughout the day.

Authorities and puja organisers are focusing on ensuring that devotees can participate in the celebrations safely and conveniently.

Vijayadashami holds deep religious and cultural significance as a symbol of the victory of good over evil, truth over falsehood and righteousness over unrighteousness.
