Haryana announces 100% motor vehicle tax exemption on EVs up to ₹30 lakh

New Delhi: Haryana Government extends 100% exemption of Motor Vehicle Tax on new electric vehicles up to Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom price), the state government said in a tweet.

A decision was taken to grant 100% exemption of motor vehicle tax to new electric vehicles with an ex-showroom price of up to Rs 30 lakh during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

New electric vehicles, such as scooters, auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws, and four-wheelers, purchased and registered in Haryana will receive a 100% waiver.

In addition, a 50 per cent exemption would be granted to new electric vehicles valued above Rs 30 lakh.

For CNG vehicles, the existing exemption rate of 20% will remain the same.

“Moreover, in a bid to promote women empowerment, a1% rebate on motor vehicle tax on non-commercial vehicles with up to Rs 20 lakh on registration under the name of women has also been approved by the cabinet,” an official press release read.

It further added that these new steps would boost adoption of electric vehicles and support the state government’s environmental objectives and make these vehicles accessible.

These incentives meet the announcements made in the Haryana Budget 2026-27 for promoting electric vehicles.
