Indian-origin teen arrested for shooting three of his family in US

New Delhi: A 19-year-old teenager was arrested for shooting three of his family members to death in Texas, United States. He has already appeared in front of the court under capital murder charges. Teen’s bail has also been denied.
The accused teenager is identified as Gaurav Chopra, a student at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
The victims of this triple-shooting case have been identified as 56-year-old Sweera Ram, 46-year-oldKamlesh Rani and 73-year-old Minder Kaur.
It is being reportedly said that he also tried to shoot his brother but he somehow survived the attack and informed emergency services about the incident.
Following the incident, the local police rushed to the spot after they were informed about it on call. On arrival they found two shot dead at the scene. The father of the teen was in a critical condition and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Sweera Ram died at the hospital during treatment.

However, Gaurav Chopra, the criminal fled the scene after committing the crime. He was arrested after a car chase during which another incident happened and two people were injured and sent to hospital.
The accused was taken under custody, a handgun was found in his car from which he killed his family members. The weapon was recovered by the police. Gaurav appeared before the court on Thursday and was charged with capital murder of multiple persons and attempted murder. Another charge that he faces was of evading arrest.
The reason behind the crime has not been revealed by the authorities till now.
Further investigation into this matter is underway.
