Condolences pour-in for former Odisha Minister Samir Dey
by Subadh Nayak · KalingaTVCuttack: Condolences poured-in for former Odisha Minister Samir Dey following his death while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack this afternoon.
The 67-year-old politician was admitted at the hospital on November 1 after his health condition deteriorated as he was suffering from pneumonia and other diseases.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, who is in an official tour to Singapore, took to his X handle and expressed his condolence. “I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the death of senior politician and former minister Sameer Dey. May he rest in peace with Lord Sri Jagannath and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” the CM said adding that Dey will be cremated with full state honours.
Likewise, Leader of Opposition (LoP) and BJD President Naveen Patnaik also condoled Dey’s death saying I am saddened to learn about the demise of eminent politician and former minister Samir Dey. His work for the betterment of the people for a long time will always be remembered, Patnaik wrote on his X handle adding that may his soul rest in peace and my condolences to the bereaved family members.
Odisha Deputy CM KV Sing Deo, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, former Chhattisgarh Governor Biswabhusana Harichand and several other veteran politicians cutting across party lines expressed their deep condolences for Samir Dey.
