Class 5 student dies after school altercation

Uttar Pradesh: A Class 5 boy, aged 10, died of treatment in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh a few days after another student allegedly pinned his neck during a fight at a government primary school.

The incident was reported to have happened on July 23 at a government primary school.

According to reports, a classmate allegedly pressed the neck of the 10-year-old student during the fight.

After returning home, he developed problems with breathing and the condition slowly became serious, following which he was taken to a hospital where he died during treatment on Wednesday.

An autopsy has been done, and the cause of death will be ascertained after the report is received.

However, after the incident, the boy’s family, in coordination with local villagers, put his body at the school and demonstrated outside the institution, demanding action against the school administration and the culprit.

The protest was pacified by authorities who reached the school and assured a full-fledged inquiry to the family.

Based on the inquiry report, Principal Yogesh Singh and assistant teachers Umesh Singh, Patel Manoj Kumar Mishra, Asmita Srivastava, Ratnakar Singh and Shalini Singh have been suspended with immediate effect.

Police registered a case and have started further probe into the matter based on evidence and the post-mortem report of the boy.
