Woman waiting for bus attacked, killed by machete man in Karnataka

Bengaluru: A crime incident occurred in which a woman who was waiting for bus was attacked and killed by machete man in Karnataka during evening time yesterday.

The location of the incident is said to be at the B.C. Road KSRTC new bus stand, ANI reports.

The victim of the incident is identified as 21-year-old Lavanya from Bantwal. She was working at a nursing home.

According to the Dakshina Kannada District Superintendent of Police, preliminary investigation has identified the accused as Chethan. Chethan is from Odilnala in Belthangady, Karnataka.

The whole crime sequence was captured in CCTV footage of the area. It showcases the accused person running away after killing the woman.

The sequence of the incident is said to be that the man pulled out his machete from the bag and after seeing that the woman tried to run away for her life, but was chased, attacked and killed by the accused person. He fled the scene after committing the crime.

Following the incident, 21-year-old Lavanya was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment but succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.

The victim and the accused knew each other, he is a distant relative of the victim and was reportedly in a one-sided love with her.

A case has been registered against Chethan, he is still on the run and yet to be arrested by the police. The reason behind the crime is yet to be known.

Further investigation into this matter is underway.
