Jharuguda Police Crack Inter-District Foreign Liquor Shop Burglary Gang in 50 Hours, Watch

Jharsuguda: Police have achieved a major success by busting an organised inter-district gang that targeted Foreign Liquor (FL) shops, solving two burglary cases within 50 hours of registration.

The gang struck at shops under Orient and Banharpal Police Stations on the night of July 8-9.

In one incident, the accused allegedly assaulted the night watchman before fleeing with cash and liquor.

Led by Gundala Reddy Raghavendra, IPS, teams used CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and inter-district coordination to track and arrest the four habitual offenders from Ganjam district.

The mastermind, Prasanta Behera (23), along with associates Kisan Pandi (22), Narayan Jena @ Mithun (25), and Chitrasen Jena (23), were apprehended.

Rs. 35,700 cash, a Mahindra Bolero (OR-05-AC-9888), two crowbars, a DVR, mobile phones, and other tools have been seized from the burglars.

Police described the operation as a strong message against organised property crime, with further investigation underway for the gang’s links in other districts.
