32 killed, 700 injured after two back to back earthquakes hit Venezuela, probable casualties to range from 10000 to 1 Lakh

New Delhi: At least 32 lost their lives and about 700 people have got injured after two back to back earthquakes hit Venezuela. It is being reportedly said that the estimated death toll might lie between 10,000 to 1 Lakh.
According to the reports, two earthquakes hit the region one with magnitude 7.2 and other just within a minute with magnitude 7.5. The regions are identified as near San Felipe and west of Caracas.
Acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez has declared a state of emergency following the incident.
Following the incident it was said that there are probable chances that in both the regions might have received high casualties and extensive damage.
Acting President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez in a post on X said, “Attention: shortly I will address Venezuelans to report on the situation following the strong earthquake that has affected our country.”

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake hit the country at a shallow depth of 15km.
The earthquake has also brought extreme damage to the Maiquetia International Airport infrastructure located near Caracas.
Emergency response teams have been deployed to search for survivors trapped beneath collapsed buildings and damaged structures following the earthquakes.
Further investigation into this matter is underway.
