Section 30 Imposed in Ganjam for 90 Days; Permission Mandatory for Meetings, Rallies and Processions

Chhatrapur: Section 30 of the Police Act, 1961 has been imposed in Ganjam district, Odisha for 90 days. Permission has been made mandatory for organizing public meetings, gatherings and processions.

The restriction has been imposed to strengthen the law and order situation in the district and to prevent possible unrest due to meetings, rallies and processions by political parties.

The order will remain in force till November 13.

As per the order, prior permission from the concerned SDPO or police station officer will be mandatory before organizing any meeting, gathering, procession or public congregation in all police station areas of the district. The application for permission must be submitted at least 72 hours before the scheduled programme.

The district police has said that legal action will be taken in case of violation of the rules.
