Schools, colleges to remain closed in these seven districts of Odisha today

Bhubaneswar: In view of the continous rainfall in Odisha, the Odisha government has announced a holiday for all schools in seven districts on Monday.
The districts where schools have been declared closed are: Nuapada, Kataka, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sambalpur, Balangir, and Subarnapur.
The Sambalpur district administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions following heavy rain. The decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the teachers, students and staff. The order covers the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) area, Dhankauda Block and the entire district.
Similarly, the District Collector of Subarnapur ordered the closure of all schools and colleges in the district due to the forecast of very heavy rainfall.

The Boudh District Collector declared a holiday for all schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centres for the day.
Yesterday, the Kataka district administration issued an emergency order for closure of all government, government-aided, and private schools, colleges, and Anganwadi Centres in the district shall remain closed as the weather department has issued an Orange Warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in the district until the morning of July 6, 2026.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Sambalpur district and several other parts of Odisha. The weather agency has warned of waterlogging in low-lying areas, localised flooding, poor visibility, and a rise in water levels in rivers and streams due to continuous rainfall.
